Our Story
Where Knights, Counts & Culture Shaped a Town
First mentioned in 1229 under the name Nekche, Našice has been a crossroads of civilisations for nearly eight centuries. In the 13th century, the Knights Templar arrived and built a church — their legacy still echoes through the town's stones.
After the Ottoman Empire claimed the region in 1541, Našice spent nearly 150 years as part of the Sanjak of Pojega before the Habsburgs ushered in a new era in 1687. By the 19th century, the noble Pejačević family transformed the town into a centre of culture and elegance — commissioning grand castles, sculpting lush parks, and putting Našice on the map of European aristocracy.
Today, Našice blends this rich heritage with modern Croatian warmth — welcoming visitors with stunning baroque architecture, serene parklands, and the unhurried pace that makes Slavonia so special.
